Preparing papers for publication
1. Manuscripts are examined by two independent reviewers in a double-blind review process.
2. Manuscripts with positive opinions are accepted for publication.
3. The manuscript is sent to the corresponding author for galley proof.
4. Before publication, authors transfer the copyright of their manuscripts to “Nigerian Journal of Pharmaceutical Research”.

Ensuring the Originality of Papers Published in the Journal
1. All materials submitted for publication in the journal are reviewed by two independent reviewers who assess both the content and the originality of the work. Double-blind review means that both the reviewer and author name(s) are not allowed to be revealed to one another for a manuscript under review.
2. All submitted articles must be accompanied by the authors’ declaration that the work has not been submitted to any other journal and has not previously been published.
3. By submitting an article to this journal the authors accept that it will be screened for plagiarism. All detected cases of scientific misconduct will be disclosed, including notification of the appropriate institutions.
4. The authors must reveal any potential financial conflict of interest related to the manuscript. Financial and other material support should be disclosed.

Submission
Title Page
Include a concise, informative title of the manuscript, the authors’ names, departmental and institutional affiliations of each author, the name and complete address of the corresponding author, including telephone number and e-mail address. In cases of co-authorship, the type(s) of contribution made by each author must be specified by adding the applicable symbols to their names in the byline: A – research concept and design; B – collection and/or assembly of data; C – data analysis and interpretation; D – writing the article; E – critical revision of the article; F – final approval of article. Authors should also provide a running title of not more than 45 characters.

Abstract
Articles require an abstract in English. It should not exceed 250 words and should consist of 5 paragraphs introduced by separate subheadings in the following order: Background, Objectives, Material and Methods, Results, Conclusions. All abbreviations used in the abstract should be clarified when they first appear in the text. For review articles, an unstructured abstract of from 150 to 200 words is requested. Provide no more than five key words for indexing.

Text (Blinded manuscript)
Doc or docx formats are recommended for text. Review articles should be no longer than 6000 words and original studies 5000 words. Original studies should be divided into the following sections: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, References. Each section should begin on a separate page. Use Times New Roman 12-point typeface. Cite references, figures, and tables consecutively as they appear in the text. Do not use footnotes. In general, use generic names for drugs. All results of measurements should be given in SI units. Financial and other material support should be disclosed and acknowledged.

References
The accuracy of references is the author’s responsibility. References should be cited selectively, especially those that provide the basis for a key statement. A maximum of 40 references for review articles, 30 for original papers, and 10 for other reports are requested. References should be cited in alphabetical order. The following are sample references:

Tables
These should be numbered using Arabic numerals, with title and footnote at the top and bottom respectively. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet. Tables should include horizontal lines only.

Figures
Figures should be submitted on separate pages. Black and white color or grey shading is preferred. They should be numbered in Arabic numerals in order of appearance in the text, where they are referred to as Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc. Figures that include more than one image should be organized economically and labeled as a, b, c, etc. (small letters). Under every figure a brief title has to be cited (Times New Roman 10, bold, spacing 1, example: Figure 1. Changes in blood pressure. In every figure all the abbreviations and non-standard units should be explained.
Photographs must be in JPG or TIFF format, preferred resolution 300 dpi.
Graphs must be in GIF, TIFF, JPG or original excel format, preferred resolution 300 dpi.

Galley proofs
These will be sent to the corresponding author (unless otherwise indicated) who should ensure that they are returned without delay. Order forms of reprints and price list will be sent along with the galley proof.

Ethical Considerations
It is the responsibility of authors using experimental animals and human subjects in their work to seek approval from the appropriate ethical committees.
